16th of December, Year 277 after the War.
Hello, my name is Cecilia. I don't know why, but I have had the urge to write down my thoughts lately.
I am a witch, banned from my home and humankind. By the Gods... I can't even cast a dangerous spell. I was horribly marked and left to die alone, and would have if not for my friend Zefirr. Zefirr is a dragon, an old, pure Dawnfire at that. He is hunting dinner at the moment, so I can take my time to write these lines.
One would say dragons and witches don't mix, but he is the only one I have left. He found me as a wailing child in the forest, begging for someone to either help or finally put me to eternal sleep. I can't believe that was eleven years ago. I asked him sometimes why he took me to his lair instead of eating me or something, but he would only say things like "Well, there wasn't much to eat", or "I was bored, you seemed interesting". I think it had something to do with his passed young. I bet he's just got too much testosterone to admit something soft like that. Males.
Zefirr and I are preparing for the winter solstice. Every year we celebrate with divine food, games and dragonsongs, with a little bit scaring humans on top, hehe. Imagine the face of a man confronted by a dragonriding witch.... hilarious. Oh, and I just finished the necklace. It's beautiful. I so told him it would be worth the little pain of leaving some of his precious shiny scales and spikes to me.
I hope he likes it.
17th of December, Year 277 after the War.
Blood. Everywhere was blood. They came, yesterday night. Humans, wrapped in steel. They came and... I didn't even hear them.
I am alone.
They took him from me! So many... they attacked us! And Zefirr just told me to run. To hide in the forest. So I did, because I trust him with my life.
I heard battlecries, dragonroars, blazing fire.
Silence.
I hurried back, because I was sure Zefirr killed them. And he had. But he too lay there, hurt and breathing heavily. I wish my witchpowers were stronger. I just wish I could have helped him. If I were stronger, he would not have... died. I cried, and I still am. He told me I knew what I had to do now. He always said to me I should go north if something... happened. To go north and never look back, until I was safe within the care of his kin. That they would know I belonged, no, belong to Zefirr.
I knelt beside him, telling him how he couldn't leave me, that I needed him. That I didn't want to be alone again. But he just gave me that fang-flashing smile of his.
He gave me that smile - the only smile I've ever known - and licked my quivering hand.
Then he lowered his head again and closed his beautiful golden eyes.
And this emptiness was all that was left in me.

Immediately upon viewing this emotive work, one must wonder - what has happened here? To me the grit and reality of the situation is gripping. Broken spears strewn about… The tears pour down a remarkable face. A dragon bleeding and broken. Two souls spend what appear to be their last few moments cradled affectionately together, still bound by a quiet love. This image; it draws you in. It DEMANDS that a story be told. And told it is. The complimenting story only Enhances this piece that much further! We learn of the tragedy of both Cecilia and her peculiar dragon Zefirr. Both unwarranted by prejudice in life… perhaps even fated to meet each other.
I find the style of your drawing fascinating. There is a certain thing which you are able to capture. Not only is the piece well drawn technically, but it emanates the strong emotion. It is both rough and elegant.
The detail of beautiful Cecilia could be improved a bit to appear more realistic. However not by much. And in this case I don’t feel that this is needed. The way that she is drawn and fills the scene shows an abstraction, a washing and euphorically fading sensation which I like very much.
The dragon Zefirr is impressive. Even in death you see his power… the horns are beautiful and magnificent, the shading and lines contrast well… the scales marvelous.
Overall this is an absolutely attractive and enthralling work of art. Eloquently crafted and intertwined with a beautifully written story. The emotion is captured, the story is told. A Masterpiece.
