Jörmungandr (better known as midgard serpent, I guess), One of Lokis children. His body wraps around the whole world. On Ragnarök he will rise to poison sky, sea and land and engage in a fight to the death with Thor.
Just imagine he has an itch somewhere on his body.. that would suck. I mean, it would take horribly long to get to that spot..
Winner pic for 's Fire Contest won by ! Congratulations!
I have no clue how he turned out to look so much like a snake/dragon. It started out as a kind of anglerfish/snake thingy.. don't know what happened after that But I wanted at least his fangs to resemble a deep-sea fish a little.. I hope you like it
first things first, I find it amazing how you did the perspective I think the difference between the head and the tail is incredible, it also gives a good idea for the viewer how massive this dragon would be in real life. there is a lot of detail on his head the scales, teeth, spykes etc. the details make it really interesting to look at. I believe the contrast of the foreground and background is good but not perfect. The tail tip on the end has the same black shade as the dragon on the foreground. It's not really anoying, but I want to point it out though. In the air is a lot of hydrogen, which makes the things further in the distance fade out. I believe if you would use this theory a bit more next time it could look really amazing, more than it already is. But that's just a small detail, further your skills seems really good, your eye on perspective and detail is great. The massive head of the dragon jumps out of my screen. I beleive a 3d version with blue and red could look really really interesting, but that would be a fun experiment to do for you if you have the mood and time.
I won't really judge for originality since it's hard and almost impossible to be original in a time nearly everything has already been done, I give you a five for it because your style is deffinetly original and even if you would make your own version of a van Gogh, it would still be original, because your style would be reconized, I suppose.
Your technique is great, but I believe you can still improve on it, so I rate it with four stars.
Your comment made me giggle: Just imagine he has an itch somewhere on his body.. that would suck. I mean, it would take horribly long to get to that spot..
True, but if your body wrapped around the world you'd probably just rub it on something convenient...maybe it gives a reason why there's earthquakes and tidal waves.
The details in the scales is really amazing. I also really like the underwater details with his body. Your choice to make his teeth like a deep sea fish is good, they're so scary looking!
